Verdant Ironmail
Final Part of the Embervault Series
“By Margann’s crusty beard, the damn thing sprouted moss — while I was wearin’ it!”
Mike’s Memory: The Armor That Eats the Sun
There’s metal, and then there’s living metal. The kind that don’t rust, don’t dent, and somehow knows when yer hurtin’.
Verdant Ironmail ain’t forged — it’s grown. Deep under the mountains where roots drink lava and vines strangle magic, there’s a forest with no sky. That’s where this started. A smith druid (madder than a barrel o’ blink dogs) fed iron to an awakened tree for three decades. Then wore the tree. Because of course he did.
Now it’s armor. And like the rest of the Embervault Series, it don’t shine right out the gate. Nah — it blooms slow. But once it’s full-grown on yer back, yer twice the warrior you were when you slipped it on.
Here’s the full set, if yer brave, blessed, or just plain stupid enough to collect ‘em all:
The Longer You Wear It, The Less You Bleed
Perfect for frontline brutes, vine-slingin’ druids, or eco-friendly paladins. Bonus points if yer character likes sunrises, long walks in graveyards, and not dyin’ of disease.
Armor Type: Heavy
Rarity: Uncommon → Very Rare (scales with level)
Base AC: 16 (no Dex modifier)
Trait – Bloom-Forged:
Level 1–4:
No bonuses yet — but armor is self-repairing. Gains 1 HP per hour in sunlight.
Level 5–9:
Regenerates 1 HP every 10 minutes in sunlight (out of combat).
Gain resistance to poison.
Level 10–14:
In direct sunlight, you gain 1 temporary HP every 10 minutes, stacking up to 10.
Resistance expands to poison AND disease.
Level 15+:
Become immune to poison and disease.
Once per day, if you drop to 0 HP in sunlight, root into the ground, stabilize, and regain 1d12 HP at the start of your next turn.
Grow It Where Magic Fears to Bloom
Hide it in a sunken temple swallowed by vines. Or throw it in a merchant’s junk pile, mistaken for a rusty scarecrow shell. Maybe the armor calls to the druid. Maybe it grows moss on everyone else.
Not Just Armor — A Damn Garden
📌 If yer armor don’t hum with power when you stand in daylight, what are ya even wearin’ — a tin bucket?
👉 Verdant Ironmail is the crown jewel of the Embervault Series. Pair it with Wanderer’s Rest for a no-rest tank, or wear it with the Coin of the Lost Patron if yer truly courting fate. See the full set in the Tavern Armory, or send Mike a note and some compost.
FAQ
Q: Does the regeneration work indoors?
A: Not unless yer DM says there’s real sunlight comin’ in. Magic light don’t count. Neither do glow worms. I checked.
Q: Does this stack with healing spells or potions?
A: It don’t stack, but it sure helps. Think of it as wearin’ a slow-burn heal over yer ribs.
Q: Can it be burned or corrupted?
A: Burn it and it grows back. Corrupt it and it’ll fight ya. One druid tried to feed it necrotic juice. The armor bit him. Still has the barkmark.
The Armor That Loves the Light More Than You Do
📌 By Elgrin’s empty scrollcase, if yer still wearin’ borrowed plate, you deserve every fungal rash that comes with it.
👉 Verdant Ironmail isn’t just gear — it’s a reward for long-haul heroes. Gather the rest of the Embervault Series, find the NPCs tough enough to wear it, and send me yer burial preferences — just in case the armor outlives ya.
