Ending a Campaign Gracefully to Save the Table

Some campaigns don’t collapse because of low stakes or absent players — they collapse because the table dynamic breaks. When ongoing player conflict made one of my games feel empty and tense, I decided to wrap the campaign early rather than force it to limp along. We paused, reevaluated our expectations, and started fresh with a new premise a few weeks later. Ending that story preserved our friendships and our enthusiasm for the hobby.

Knowing when to stop can be just as important as knowing how to keep going.
