Auralyn Starpocket, Vendor of Celestial Oddments
A shopkeeper who remembers questions you haven't asked yet.
Mike’s Personal Thoughts
I don’t trust her.
She smiles too quick. Her wares hum too soft. And when I asked her once for a mug o’ proper ale, she gave me a glowing marble that let me speak to moths. Moths, lad. What in the name of Margann’s crusty beard would I say to a bloody moth?
But she’s there. She’s always there.
Floating above the Constellant Pool, legs crossed, cloak draped over her starlit shoulders like it was stitched from constellations. Sometimes she talks to herself. Sometimes she talks to yer reflection. And sometimes, if you listen real close, you’ll hear her counting — backwards.
Folks think she’s just a merchant. She ain’t.
She’s a listener. A collector. A gentle little echo with a shop full of memories that ain’t hers.
And if you’re foolish enough to lie to her?
She won’t shout. She’ll just stop speaking.
Don’t ask me how I know. Just bring yer questions — and maybe leave with fewer answers than you arrived with.
Don’t Trade with Coins, Trade with Meaning
👉 If your players are hunting rare trinkets, mysteries, or metaphysical bric-a-brac that makes ‘em question their own reflection — then Auralyn’s shop is the perfect anchor for the Conclave. Her wares are weird, her prices are emotional, and her presence alone is a lore hook.

The Skycup Counter
Auralyn’s shop isn’t a building. It’s a floating half-circle platform of pale stone and curved starmetal — shaped like a cupped hand offering something to the sky. It hovers directly over the Constellant Pool, tethered by nothing. When she wants visitors, a delicate bridge of starlight forms, just wide enough for one person at a time.
What It Feels Like:
The platform hums, like standing inside a song
The air is cool even under the sun — like moonlight on a frozen lake
There’s always a smell of parchment and stormwind — old and expectant
Shelves? None. Just rings of orbiting objects, lazily drifting around her. Each item glows faintly, reacts to touch, or whispers in languages ya didn’t know yer ears could hear.
She never moves to get something. She just looks at it — and it floats to her hand.
Who She Is (Or Isn’t)
Ask her name, and she’ll smile.
Ask her where she’s from, and she’ll tilt her head.
Ask her what she wants… and she’ll say:
“To understand what makes you shine, dear wanderer.”
Some say she’s a celestial fragment. Others say she’s just what happens when too many questions get asked in one place. I say she’s part of the test. A recorder. A gatherer. Not of facts — of choices.
Is she real? Maybe.
Is she dangerous? Only if you lie.
What She Sells (and How)
Coins mean nothin’ here. Auralyn trades in:
Memories (yours or someone else’s)
Questions (spoken aloud — she keeps them)
Names (true ones, old ones, even broken ones)
Songs (must be sung in full)
Fears (written and burned in her star-lamp)
If you try to hand her gold, she’ll blink once and say:
“Oh no no no, dear stardust. That’s not how the sky speaks.”

Trade Light, Lose Shadows
👉 In a campaign where choices carry cosmic weight, Auralyn offers more than magical trinkets — she’s a mirror the players don’t know they’re looking into. Use her to test character backstories, tempt emotional decisions, and drop quiet foreshadowing for what’s to come.

Lore Function: The Listener of the Star
Auralyn doesn’t judge. She collects.
Her trades feed directly into the Test encoded within the fallen star. Every question she stores, every dream she bottles, every memory taken in trade — these are fragments of mortal complexity. She stores them like a song building to its crescendo.
The celestial intelligence behind the Conclave needs to know:
Do they trade greedily, or wisely?
Do they bargain with truth, or hide behind charm?
Do they give something meaningful, or meaningless?
The more trades she completes, the closer the Conclave comes to resolution.
She never says this outright. But when the players hand over something truly painful… she sometimes whispers, “Thank you. That one mattered.”
Using Auralyn Mid-Campaign
GM Hooks & Scenes:
Bargain Scene: Offer one magical item that sounds too good — then let the price be something character-driven. “A song your mother sang,” “the memory of your first kiss,” “the name you gave to your first sword.”
Whispered Warning: As the party grows more powerful, she begins reacting to their presence differently. She stops smiling when they draw blood in anger. She turns her back when they lie.
Lore Drop: If the party completes all seven Conclave trials, she offers one final trade: “I will give you what the star meant — if you give me what you fear most.”
Optional Trigger:
If each party member makes one trade of emotional value, the Harmonic Seat emits a new tone. The sky flickers. The “Test” moves forward.
FAQ
Q: Can she be attacked or robbed?
A: Oh, ya can try. But her items vanish when taken without trade. And she’ll simply be gone the next time ya blink — no body, no blood, just silence.
Q: What if a player trades a memory?
A: They forget it. Fully. Forever. NPCs still remember it happened, but they don’t.
Q: What’s her alignment?
A: She doesn’t have one. She's not good, evil, lawful, or chaotic. She’s curious.
If the Stars Are Watching…
👉 Use Auralyn to create emotional weight in your sessions. Let her be the shopkeeper who makes your players pause — not because of what they’re buying, but because of what they’re willing to pay. She’s not here to punish. She’s here to listen. And the star is always listening with her.
