Serynthelzaaz, the Hollow Bloom

This is the follow-up Tavern Toolshed entry to The Tiefling Who Was Never Really There. It includes a dramatic reveal, full stat block for an ancient spellcasting bronze dragon, modular abilities, linking back to the original post, and heavy SEO optimization.

Serynthelzaaz, the Hollow Bloom (Elyra’s True Form)

Mike’s Thoughts from the Barstool

So. Ya found out.

Turns out yer sweet, soft-spoken tiefling friend wasn’t just a lady with a silver tongue and a silk purse full of secrets. She was a bronze-scaled nightmare. A wyrm older than half the coastlines, coiled in a mortal skin, whisperin’ dreams of peace while buildin’ a kingdom of shadows.

I warned ya, didn’t I?

Elyra ain’t a sorceress. She’s a strategy. Serynthelzaaz is her true name — known in a dead tongue, written in vanished ink on stone that’s no longer there. Her wings ain’t for show. They don’t blaze with fury. They fold around nations.

And when she drops the act? When the tail lashes, the eyes flash bronze, and the wind hums with judgment?

You ain’t facin’ a dragon.

Yer facin’ every wrong choice ya made while she watched and waited.

Not All Dragons Burn Cities — Some Rewrite Them

👉 Serynthelzaaz isn’t just a dragon stat block — she’s a campaign finale, a climax, a reckoning. You met her as Elyra, the Tiefling Who Was Never Really There, now meet her true form. Drop her in from the Tavern Toolshed, give her cursed gear from the Tavern Armory, or pair her with NPCs who once called her mentor in the Player Builds & NPCs.

Special Abilities

Bloom of Mercy (Recharge 5–6)
A radiant burst that forces all creatures within 90 ft to make a DC 20 WIS save or be incapacitated by overwhelming emotion for 1 minute (repeat save end of turn). Those affected can’t take hostile actions unless harmed first.

False Bloom Projection (1/day)
Creates an illusionary “Elyra” form for up to 10 minutes. This projection speaks, interacts, casts minor spells, and can move freely from her dragon body. It disappears if damaged.

Shed the Mask (Legendary Action, 1/long rest)
If below 50% HP, Serynthelzaaz can dispel all magical disguises, illusions, and environmental effects within 120 ft. Her true presence warps the battlefield — light bends, sound mutes, all terrain within 60 ft becomes difficult terrain.

Legendary Actions (3/round)

  • Wingbeat (Costs 1): Knocks back all targets within 15 ft unless they succeed a DC 19 STR save.

  • Radiant Glare (Costs 1): Target makes a DC 20 CON save or is blinded until end of next turn.

  • Command Presence (Costs 2): Forces a creature that can hear her to make a DC 22 CHA save or fall prone and end its turn convinced of her divinity. No effect if the target has seen her true form before.

How to Use Her

She doesn’t fight until she must. This should be the final reveal — the moment everything crumbles.

Have her drop one of her former masks — a pendant, a voice, a sigil — and then shift. Let the battlefield reshape. Let the players remember everything they missed. This isn’t a combat — it’s a confrontation with the campaign’s own trust.

Want a hook? Use Sir Ralan as her loyal knight — convinced to the bitter end she’s right.

FAQ

Q: Is Serynthelzaaz evil?
A: She’d say no. She believes control is peace. She lies less than your average ruler. She just won’t let the world choose chaos again.

Q: How do I foreshadow her without spoiling the twist?
A: Use dreams, court rumors, “memories” that weren’t theirs. And the tiefling form always smells like petrichor — even indoors.

Q: What happens if the party kills her?
A: The storm ends. The echoes stop. And one of them wakes up... with her eyes.
